Ways to Vote at the Pembroke By-election

The Tasmanian Electoral Commission provides a number of services to help you have your say in the Legislative Council Pembroke by-election.








Polling Day

Vote in person from 8am to 6pm Saturday 4 November at a polling place near you.

Pre-poll voting

How -

  1. You attend a pre-poll centre
  2. You declare you are unable to attend a polling place on polling day
  3. You record your vote + place it in the ballot box

When -

Pre-poll centres will be open in 2 Tasmanian locations, weekdays from 8:30am to 5:30pm, and will remain open until 6pm on Friday 3 November. Both centres will be closed for the Royal Hobart Show public holiday on 26 October.

Interstate pre-poll locations are open during their normal business hours and until Friday 3 November.





Postal vote

Applications for a postal vote have closed.


Returning your Vote -

You must record your vote before 6pm on polling day, Saturday 4 November

We can receive postal ballot papers until 10am Tuesday 14 November





Express vote

Applications for an express vote have closed.

You must return your express vote before 6pm on polling day, Saturday 4 November

If you can't vote on polling day, you can vote early.

Pre-poll centres are open weekdays as listed below, apart from Hobart Show holiday, 26th October.

Note - both pre-poll centres will offer our VI-Vote service for vision impaired electors.

Services for vision impaired electors

VI-Vote

The TEC has a computer based system (VI Vote) to assist vision impaired electors to cast their vote. VI Vote is available at both pre-poll centres and at the Howrah Primary School (Howrah Scout Hall) polling place on polling day.
