Don’t delay, late votes can’t be counted. Failure to vote may incur a fine.
Follow these five easy steps:
Candidates were invited to provide a statement and photo for your consideration. Statements are reproduced here as provided by the candidate.
Statements appear in alphabetical order but the order of names on ballot papers is rotated.
Number the boxes on each ballot paper from 1 onwards in the order of your choice.
For the election of 7 councillors, number the boxes from 1 to 14 in order of your choice. Number at least 5 boxes to make your vote count.
For the election of mayor, number the boxes 1 and 2 in order of your choice. Number at least one box to make your vote count.
For the election of deputy mayor, number the boxes from 1 to 4 in the order of your choice. Number at least one box to make your vote count.
Put your completed ballot papers in the ballot paper envelope, which is the smaller envelope with the wider flap, and seal it securely.
Sign your ballot paper envelope in the box on the flap to declare that you are the voter named on this envelope and you have voted on the ballot papers in this envelope. You must sign the envelope and leave the flap attached — or your vote won’t be counted. The returning officer will remove the flap with your details on it before opening the envelope.
Then put your ballot paper envelope in the reply-paid envelope — the larger envelope — and seal it.
Post your reply paid envelope straight away (no stamp needed), or take your vote to the Sorell Council office.

Like you, I’m passionate about this amazing place. I'm focused on delivering services that nurture our community and a thriving creative scene that brings people together. I live, work and volunteer in our local area as a Sorell retailer, market operator, Midway Point resident, and mum. I'm ready to be your councillor, bringing practical local experience, strong community connections, and a commitment to getting things done. For a vibrant Sorell Councillor, please vote for me.

I am seeking re-election to Sorell Council after a term focused on listening to residents, engaging with community groups and understanding the diverse needs of our municipality. I have valued my role as a Councillor and have enjoyed supporting our local community. My priorities are planned and sustainable development, opportunities for young people, strong local businesses, volunteer services and our farming community. I will continue to be accessible, informed and committed to representing the whole Sorell municipality.

I’m Jon Daly, a lifelong resident of the Sorell Municipality and a dad of two young children. I’m standing for Council to work for you and help build a community where families can thrive. I support sensible growth while reducing unnecessary red tape around building and development. I’ll push for safer roads and better public transport for our rural communities, while ensuring our smaller towns aren’t forgotten. I believe having people from different areas of our community elected to Council is invaluable. I want a united Council that listens to residents and delivers practical results.

Voting 1 for me is a vote for our future, a future that looks bright with a community that is continuing to grow and develop. As a lifelong local I understand our community & the issues that matter. My community involvement includes an active member of Break Creek Show Committee, Sorell Rotary & Copping Community Care Centre. With my proven business experience & strong financial background I can provide oversight & strategic direction to ensure responsible management of Council and the allocation of your rates to meet the benefits of the whole community. TRUSTED LOCAL LISTENING

A loving family man of 2 young children & Dodges Ferry business owner. I prioritise integrity, minimise waste and deliver results. I don’t make promises at election time and hope they happen; I get things done. 20 years in planning, architecture and engineering across the state. With a rapid expansion in our region’s housing, we will need a councillor with this experience. I will work with council staff and fellow councillors to maximise efficiency for our community. With respect for our community, coast and country, every voice needs to be heard. Especially our youth: they are our future.

The past two years as Sorell Mayor has been an honour. I have gained a deep understanding of our distinct communities, my focus is thoughtful planning, engagement and strong advocacy. A Sorell that grows sustainably, creating local jobs and infrastructure to maintain the lifestyle we value. My goal is delivering an environment that supports every age, every background and every community ensuring that as the region grows we all rise together and no one is left behind. I am Mum, Wife, TFS Volunteer and Friend. Please vote 1 for me as your Mayor and Councillor

Over the past year, I’ve knocked on 2,500 doors across our community. I’ve developed my policies directly from your ideas and priorities. I’ve heard from many people who feel disconnected from their elected representatives and how decisions are made. I believe we can set a new standard for local government. A Council you can rely on to work in your best interests every time. As a Carlton resident, project manager and former Chemical Engineer, I have the skills to build the most trusted and transparent Council in Tasmania. Together, let’s tackle your concerns and keep rates as low as possible.

I am a husband, father and local business owner. When I think about our region's future, I think about whether people will have the same opportunities I had. The opportunities I've had were only possible because this community backed me. I believe infrastructure creates opportunity, opportunity gives hope and community gives people a chance. I want our region to be a place where people can find local employment, build a life, raise a family, grow a business and one day look back proudly at the place they helped build.

NICHOLS Beth Candidate for Councilor and Deputy Mayor Having lived in Dodges Ferry for more than 30 years, I care deeply about our community and its future. I am standing for re-election because I believe local government works best when it is grounded in the community it serves - listening to residents, understanding what matters to them and working with them to achieve positive outcomes. Together we can continue building a connected, caring community where people feel heard, valued and included. If re-elected, I will continue to be a strong and respectful voice for our community.

A Dodges Ferry local for 30+ years, and dedicated councillor for the past eight years, I champion our caring, thriving, creative south-east and treasure the local character and lifestyles we love. I stand for community wellbeing, fair and responsible planning, respect for our heritage and environment, and support for well managed public assets and real local government reform. I’m a trusted leader and devoted volunteer with extensive business experience and a proven record at community, state and national levels. Vote 1 REED for the leadership our community deserves. melindareed.net.au

For me, our community isn’t simply a place on a map, it’s home. I’m a proud local, I’ve grown up, worked, raised my family, built friendships and made so many memories here. I know the people who make this community what it is, I know the local businesses, the familiar faces, the places we gather and the little things that make this community feel like home. I’ve watched our area grow and change and I believe now is the time for me to step forward, to listen to our residents and help to shape the future we all want to see.

I live in Carlton and volunteer with community organisations/groups that benefit community wellbeing. I have extensive experience working in Health and Emergency Services management developing strategies, business plans, policy and ensuring public accountability. I believe Putting Community First builds strong, resilient, inclusive and healthy communities, focussing on: Communication and connection, Growing sustainable local businesses, services and industries, Protecting our natural environment and heritage. I communicate effectively, am collaborative, fair and keep well informed on issues.

As a former Sorell Council employee, I know how Council operates and where there are opportunities to save time and money. I want Council to find savings before increasing rates and invest those savings back into our community. I’d support local employment, apprenticeships, education, arts and sport, while exploring opportunities to bring Falls Festival back. Since leaving Council, I’ve continued advocating for residents and working with Council to resolve local issues. I’ll serve with integrity, without political agendas. Please reach out with your concerns. I want to hear from you.

As a former Sorell Mayor I have experience, dedication and a common sense approach to decision making. Putting residents first I will continue to advocate for a balance between growth and necessary infrastructure to maintain the economic, health and cultural standards we desire. My commitment and perseverance has resulted in the Southern Beaches Plan, stage 1 of the South East Irrigation Scheme and the restoration of the Sorell Carriage Shed. Leadership, experience and achievements count. I have energy and enthusiasm and would like to continue to be your strong and reliable voice on Council.
