2025 State election















A general election for the House of Assembly will be held on Saturday 19 July 2025.

Tasmania has five divisions: Bass, Braddon, Clark, Franklin and Lyons. Seven members will be elected to represent each division for a term of up to four years.

Voting is compulsory.


Voting early

Pre-poll centres are open 8:30 am to 5:30 pm weekdays and until 6 pm on Friday. Voting early by telephone is available for eligible electors..


Voting on polling day

Check the location of your nearest polling place, open 8 am to 6 pm on polling day. Voting by telephone on polling day is available for eligible electors.

Ways to vote

You can vote in person at a polling place on polling day. If you can't do this, there will be early and alternative voting options available.










The candidates

Nominations have closed. Candidates for the 2025 State election were announced on Friday 27 June at 12 noon. Details were published online at 12:05 pm. Registered parties and groups are presented in a designated order until the ballot paper column order is known. The column order will be updated on our website before the end of the day.










Election night tally room

The TEC will once again host a tally room on polling night, in the Federation Ballroom at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, 1 Davey St, Hobart. This event is open to the public, doors open at 6 pm. It is anticipated that first results from polling places will be available from around 6:45 pm.

Enrolment

To vote in this State election, you must be correctly enrolled before 6 pm Wednesday 18 June 2025.
