Local government elections 2026

Council voting services

Local government elections are conducted by post. During the postal voting period, council offices can help by issuing you with a replacement ballot pack if you need one, or they can receive your completed ballot pack.

Collect a replacement ballot pack

If your ballot pack is lost or damaged, you can request a replacement online or collect one from your local council office. Council offices can only issue replacement ballot packs for electors enrolled in their own local government area. The replacement pack must be collected by the elector it is issued to.

Return your vote

Council offices have secure TEC ballot boxes where you can lodge your completed ballot pack. You can visit your own council office, or another council office in the same region as the council you’re enrolled in.

• If your enrolled council is in the northern region, you can lodge your vote at any council office in the northern region.
• If your enrolled council is in the southern region, you can lodge your vote at any council office in the southern region.

Your vote must be lodged by 2 pm on Tuesday 27 October 2026.
