Understanding the new disclosure and funding scheme for Tasmanian parliamentary elections

From 1 July 2025, the commencement of the Electoral Disclosure and Funding Act 2023 introduces a new scheme for disclosing political donations and electoral expenditure in Tasmanian parliamentary elections, and funding for House of Assembly administration and elections.

To learn more about the new Electoral Disclosure and Funding scheme, the TEC invites you to attend one of our upcoming online forums.

Panellists Andrew Hawkey (Electoral Commissioner), Ngaire Edwards (Deputy Electoral Commissioner) and Kylee Rumble (Director Legislation and Compliance) will be discussing:

  • new legislative terms introduced by the Act,
  • registration requirements for electoral participants,
  • the required use of campaign bank accounts, and
  • making disclosures of donations and electoral expenditure.

Who should attend

Electoral participants with responsibilities under the scheme, including political parties, members of parliament, intending candidates, associated entities, third-party campaigners, and significant political donors.

You’ll be able to submit questions to the panel and hear about the Commission’s role as Tasmania’s regulator for financial disclosures and funding.
